Blue Hound

From my sketch below, I created a pastel painting of this imaginary creature. I had a desire to work in blues and red violets for the coloring. The idea was to create a dog-like animal that could move through the trees since in real life they cannot. Now I just have to create a cat creature and the chase is on!

In The Green Waters

Recently I spoke to the Southern Piedmont Artists Guild in Monroe and in the fantasy demo that followed it was requested I combine a jackalope and a mermaid. I had no memory or reference for a jackalope so I had to wing it. After starting it at the meeting, I finished it at home. I actually had a different background up top and hated it so I took it out with a brush and added fixative to allow for more pastel. I also used some fixative to allow me to come back and brighten the colors a bit. Enjoy.

Ostrichadillo

This piece was a fantasy demo for the Mint Hill Arts group and the audience suggested combining an ostrich and armadillo. Never would have thought of this on my own, but was fun to do. Enjoy.

Lightning Bug

Here's the beginning of a new series of fantasy pieces. I love insects and the idea of turning this yellow jacket into a lightning maker seemed pretty cool. It's 13 x 18, pastel.

From the Jaws of defeat

After dog in the waves, I decided to add a shark breaking out of the water attempting to grab the frisbee from the dog.

Big Alice

A while back I started drawing some characters from down in the swamps that were alligator hunters searching for the one elusive Big Alice, a huge alligator seen around the area of NeverCatchee, FL. I drew them as they came to mind. Believe I was sitting under an umbrella at the beach with a sketch pad when I drew this.

The following sketches were made on a Wacom.

Wacom Sketching

I used a Wacom tablet to create these 2 drawings. Pretty much just horsing around. Vikings are a cool subject and birds are always fun.
